This talk deals with the economics of how pupils make educational decisions. This is potentially very simple and intuitive. However, in the talk we will consider this model and discuss how factors taken from behavioural economics, sociology and other areas complicate this decision. In so doing, we will consider the role that mathematics and statistics has to play in economics and how far we can take this. (There will not be any need to bring a calculator).
